Rahm took a two-shot lead to the back nine with a 4-hybrid to 12 feet on the par-5 ninth that set up a two-putt birdie, and he held his own until Finau's double bogey.

"If you get wind all day, you don't expect people to low", Rahm said.

Rahm's victory is unofficial on the PGA Tour, though the tournament awarded world ranking points. Rahm, making his first trip to the Bahamas for this event, figured out early that the key to scoring at Albany were the five par fives and two reachable par fours.

Tiger Woods appeared to be headed for an ugly finish to an ugly week on Sunday at the Hero World Challenge, where he went out in 40 to fall all the way to two over for the tournament.

Rahm took the lead after Finau bogeyed the eighth hole, and never trailed again.

Woods got off to another rough start, rallied on the back nine and had to settle for a 1-over 73 to finish 17th against the 18-man field. Woods' tee shot at the 18th hole came to rest under a bush right of the fairway.

He said, "I think I've seen every video on YouTube about Seve and Tiger".

The 29-year old Salt Lake City golfer said he had also benefitted from a small adjustment to his putter as he seeks to make amends after losing out in a play-off in last month's WGC - HSBC Champions. Stenson finished fourth at 14 under while Cantlay and fellow American Rickie Fowler tied for fifth at 13 under. I've kept saying it the same way.

Advantage Finau, at least over the last two days.

Spaniard Rahm was disappointed not to have the sole lead after a birdie putt at the last failed to drop.

"I didn't feel like I made contact twice", said Woods.

Mark Russell, the PGA Tour's vice president of rules and competition, said: "Basically it [the rulebook] says if the player did not know that he did that and the only way you can tell that is by using this type of slow-motion technology, he's exempt from the rules". I know he's up there with my grandpa telling him everything about golf even though Seve knows a little bit. I'm just trying to do the best I can and keeping a good attitude.

Rahm started the final round tied with Tony Finau and Henrik Stenson but turned it into a one-horse race with a seven-birdie seven-under-par 65 at Albany on the island of New Providence. "I took care of the par 5s, and on this golf course, that's what you have to do to play well". While it was a somewhat poor end to the year - finishing second to last at one under par, 19 strokes behind victor Jon Rahm - 2018 was far from a failure for Woods.
