Apple Music arrives on Amazon Echo speakers: Here’s how to link it

As well as access to Apple's library of songs, subscribers will also be able to listen to the Beats 1 radio station.

In September, Amazon announced plans to launch an Echo-powered wall clock to help users visually track their timers.

By hooking up to your smartphone for connectivity, the Echo Auto can do all the usual Alexa tricks, answering questions from the web, playing music and audiobooks, and telling you about your upcoming calendar schedule. You are not allowed to add a song to a particular playlist using Alexa voice assistant, while you can add it on Apple HomePod. Tap Apple Music and you'll be brought to the screen where you can enable its Skill.

The rollout started in the USA for both, Android and iOS users through their own Alexa app.

People who cook frequently in the kitchen and need lots of timers will probably be interested in the Echo Wall Clock. Once installed head over to default music services in your Alexa preferences.

While Amazon hasn't said anything officially, the product page for the Echo Auto has scrubbed any mention of "this year" from the listing, AFTVnews notes. To use the clock, you need to say "Alexa, set up my Echo Wall Clock".

Alexa has changed how I use timers. Setting alarms to music is also possible. Or perhaps Amazon simply wants to expand its smart home portfolio, and a wall clock that can communicate with Echo might be the next logical step in that direction.

The support on Echo devices marks only the second voice-controlled speaker to work directly with Apple Music, other than Apple's own HomePod. You can link up your account of these music streaming services, and can set it as the default music library through the Alexa app.
