"And they enlisted politicians to cut them a bigger slice".

Warren in October released DNA testing results that showed there was "strong evidence" that she has Native American blood.

Dan Geldon, Warren's longtime aide who served as her chief of staff in the Senate and was once the senator's student at Harvard Law School, is likely to serve a senior role in the eventual Warren campaign, the source said. "Warren has a lot of convincing to do", Professor Sabato said, adding the same is true of many other Democratic contenders. In an ominous sign for a candidate who was once considered a possible favorite for the nod, the vast majority of Democratic commentary in response to Warren's announcement has taken the tone of a bored yawn. "They crippled unions so no one could stop them".

Several hours after the announcement, Mr Trump had not responded but Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel called Senator Warren "another extreme far-left obstructionist and a total fraud".

Put plainly: If Democratic voters are looking for the kind of candidacy Sanders was selling in 2016, Warren has about as good a claim on it as Sanders does - if not better. But it also risks emphasizing anger at a time when Democrats are divided over whether they instead should seek out a more optimistic and unifying nominee.

At the time, Mrs Warren told MSNBC: "This was supposed to be an event to honour heroes, people who put it all on the line for our country, who, due to their incredible work, saved the lives of countless Americans and our allies". "What I've found is terrifying. And we know it is time to fight back". "We can and we will".

Warren still isn't officially running for president.

To the surprise of no one, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and become the first female senator from MA.

But recent events have illustrated some of her potential weaknesses.

Former vice president Joe Biden: The former vice president has been rumored to be announcing his bid for the 2020 presidential race.

In a poll of liberal grassroots activists conducted this month by Democracy for America, 8 percent of those surveyed favored Warren in 2020.

He continued, "More & more happy Warren announced so early".

In an email to supporters, Warren said she'd more formally announce a campaign plan early in 2019. She married at age 19 and moved to Texas, where she finished her undergraduate studies at the University of Houston.

If competently run, the Warren exploratory committee can fairly quickly answer some of those questions.

Warren has spent most of her adult life in academia, doing groundbreaking research on consumer bankruptcy.

Warren entered politics after the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis, and before that, she was a professor with an expertise in bankruptcy and commercial law. She ran for Senate in 2012, and beat incumbent Scott Brown.
