Juan Mata holds on to his spot in the lineup.

"It's not easy to come from the situation that we are in and show the intensity and courage, and good ideas, positive ideas, positive football".

United won for the fifth game in a row under the Norwegian but United were not at their best during the 2-0 victory and Reading, second from bottom of the Championship, ended the game having had more possession and more shots.

"And when you win four, you expect to win the next one as well".

"You can't ask for more than going through but the way we played wasn't the best", Solskjaer told the BBC.

'Through the middle, just facing the goal at all times and he knows that I am risky in that manner but also helping the team off the ball and stuff like that.

Solskjaer can surpass Busby's mark with a win at Tottenham in the Premier League next weekend, and more and more players are putting their hands up for selection, especially in attack. Marcus Rashford is certainly playing with confidence running through his veins and Romelu Lukaku is also back in the goals, but there is one star who is growing into his role at the club in eye catching fashion.

Lukaku missed the first two matches of Solskjaer's reign due to a private matter but has found the net in every appearance since returning.

Solskjaer has had four games to assess his players after being parachuted into the job following Jose Mourinho's dismissal.

"From where I sat it was a clear penalty, so I didn't need VAR there", Solskjaer said.

"We want competition in all positions". "There will be tougher times coming, there will be tougher games coming up, we know that".

One of Solskjaer's priorities is to improve the players' fitness, something he plans to work on when he takes his squad to Dubai for a warm-weather training break after the Reading match. It far from a ideal performance and he will be annoyed to have only scored one goal, but his ability to take one of the two good chances he had was ultimately the difference between the two side.

"Despite the result, I think we went out there and we did that". They press very high, they recovered balls in the offensive midfield.
