Browns fans react to team hiring Freddie Kitchens over Gregg Williams

To what should be all of Cleveland's relief, it was reported that Freddie Kitchens will be promoted to head coach of the Cleveland Browns. The 29-year-old does, however, only have two years of coaching experience, 2017 as a graduate assistant with San Diego State University, and this season with the Browns.

However, for new Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio, defense is in his DNA.

Williams was named interim head coach when Hue Jackson was let go from the team in October.

It's hard to suss out how much of that was due to Kitchens and how much was due to (a) Mayfield coming into his own after reliving Tyrod Taylor in Week 3 and getting his first start in Week 4; and (b) the front office's decision to trade Carlos Hyde, which thrust Chubb into the lineup.

Baker Mayfield pre-Freddie Kitchens as his OC: 130-of-223 (56.5%), 1,471 yards, 8 TD, 6 INT. "I always felt like I lived life every day like it could be your last, but what an incident like that makes you realize and thankful for are the friends that you have", Kitchens told the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram in November. "Cleveland and I get along well". Cleveland has been a desert for stability at the head coach and quarterback positions over the last two decades, but with one draft pick in 2018 and one coaching hire in 2019, that all may change. Jones is a Bruce Arians disciple. After doing some research (really just looking up different people that Kitchens has coached with), a few names stuck out that could rise to the top of the list of potential contenders to lead under Kitchens. The Browns also interviewed former Lions head coach Jim Caldwell, Saints tight ends coach Dan Campbell, Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, and Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores for the job.
