Apple to Introduce a Three-Camera Setup With the Next iPhone Flagship

The successor of the iPhone XR with LCD screen will have two rear cameras. Huawei's Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro, launched a year ago, carry three rear cameras.

Though Apple won't debut its new 2019 iPhones for another nine months, the company is already well into the development cycle for them. "Beefing up functional value, like expanding camera features, isn't attractive because everyone else is doing the exact same thing".

The underwhelming reception of the iPhone XR has seen Apple consider the possibility of dropping the LCD-based model entirely, claims the report's sources, which would result in a complete shift to using OLED displays for the iPhone range, as previously rumoured.

Notably, the new report is in agreement with another a render that came out earlier month giving a glimpse of what iPhone XI could hold for us in 2019.

Apple apparently couldn't ditch the LCD display this year because the planning stages are already too far along for this year's releases, making big changes like a swap of the display panel infeasible.

The follow up phone will stick with a liquid crystal display (LCD), which is cheaper than the organic LED display on its premium iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

The Cupertino, California-based company has made a decision to stick with liquid-crystal display (LCD) at a time when sluggish sales of iPhone XR cut into its most recent revenue projection, the report said.

More importantly, what do YOU want from this year's crop of Apples?

This isn't the first time we've heard rumours that the company plans to release a triple-camera iPhone.

"Since we began shipping the iPhone XR", Cook said, "it has been the most popular iPhone every day, every single day, from-when we started shipping, until now". The report suggests that Apple may remove 3D Touch from all iPhones. The three-camera setup supposedly won't be available on the regular, 5.8-inch iPhone 11, which would also be a major differentiator unlike last year's iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max where the hardware was practically the same.
